Did Someone Call For A Companion Pyschopath …or Not?

This movie offers an engaging and thought-provoking look into Iris’s character and her functioning (pun not intended). The teaser trailer effectively sets up suspense, showcasing her tied up and unable to defend herself while dinner is served, which raises curiosity about her situation. However, that intrigue is further heightened in the final trailer, where we discover that Iris is a robot rather than a human. This twist opens up interesting discussions about artificial intelligence and identity, making the film not just entertaining but also ripe for analysis.

Smile & Act Happy

What kind of life is it to pretend and act phony? We’re often told to “be ourselves,” but everyone has limits to that idea. If everyone showed their true selves, the world might be unrecognizable.

Every situation is unique, and we must respond appropriately. Our words and actions define us and influence how others see us. It’s crucial to remember that it’s about how we communicate, not just what we say.

Living in silent pain is not an option, as Iris learned with her companion, Josh. Pretending is not sustainable. People have their limits, and while tensions can rise, it doesn’t have to result in violence. There are always better options than resorting to brutality or taking matters into our own hands.

Being Alone vs. Being Lonely

Not everyone needs companionship, and that’s completely valid. Being in a relationship requires hard work, commitment, and mutual respect, and while some people thrive in such connections, others may view them as daunting. It’s important to recognize that relationships aren’t for everyone, and every couple’s journey is unique.

I find it concerning to think about a future where technology could offer artificial companions as a solution for those who struggle to find love and connection. The idea of having AI men and women to interact with—who could be turned on or off at will—feels unsettling. It really makes us wonder about the depth of human connections and what it means to be truly present with one another.

Closing Remarks on “Companion” in the Future

As technology continues to advance, it’s not far-fetched to imagine scenarios like this being explored more frequently in movies. It raises important questions about our society and the nature of companionship. It’s worth reflecting on how many films like “Companion” we may encounter in the future, as we navigate these complex emotions and relationships. Ultimately, we all desire connection in our own ways, and it’s essential to consider how technology impacts that fundamental human need.

2 Thoughts to ““Companion” Gives You A Bloody AI Girlfriend You Can’t Even Begin to Comprehend!”

  1. Kipher Kelly

Excellent review! You mentioned points that I also noticed while watching the movie.

One thing I like about scary movies is that they’re a little bit like animated movies; they can raise issues, and they don’t get as much attention as a drama because of all the blood that kills or the graphics or the animation.

So it’s a little bit like a computer screen where they’re safe with it, so I think that’s why they’re able to get away with it more, which I think is great. They don’t always get raised, and you point some of them out that are. Some viewers don’t notice them so it can be fun to talk about.

Misogyny was something I picked up, but the main character wanted the robot to do as he wanted, act the way he wanted her to act, give them sex, cook for him, and everything else. That’s a little bit scary.

Then towards the end, dinner, even where he’s using the gay robot, and he’s using both of them just to serve him.

    1. Very much true. People are either treated like robots or punching bags. But there always is a third option: to be treated as an equal – a human being and that’s what is wrong in this world today. Everyone is treated fairly – but not equally. Thanks for your remarks!
